The song of the road

You may be able to work out the tune to this one. A versatile little number with plenty of room for improvisation, and the tune is easy enough that you can shout it out while going along.

Look what they’ve done to my road, Ma
Look what they’ve done to my road.
Well they’ve built the road straight up the hill
It makes me feel quite ill, Ma.
Look what they’ve done to my road.

Look what they’ve done to my height, Ma
Look what they’ve done to my height.
Well they’ve thrown it away down a one in ten
And now I gotta start climbing again.
Look what they’ve done to my height.

Look what they’ve done to my town, Ma
Look what they’ve done to my town.
Well they’ve paved it all with lumps and bumps
It makes me feel quite down in the dumps.
Look what they’ve done to my town.

Look what they’ve done to my bum, Ma
Look what they’ve done to my bum.
I’ve sat on it for thousands of miles
I’m probably getting piles, Ma.
Look what they’ve done to my bum.

Look what they’ve done to my tan, Ma
Look what they’ve done to my tan.
I’m covered in stripes of brown and white
It really isn’t right, Ma.
Look what they’ve done to my tan.

Look what they’ve done to my head, Ma
Look what they’ve done to my head.
My head wants to cycle every day
But my body wants to stay in bed, Ma.
Look what they’ve done to my head.

Look what they’ve done to my legs, Ma
Look what they’ve done to my legs
My knees are creaky and my muscles are sore
And still I use them more, Ma.
Look what they’ve done to my legs.

Over to you for more verses.  Best sung at high volume while cycling north up the SS125 in Sardinia.
