Christmas in Corralejo

In which Sid and Doris find that the hotel provides just the right amount of Christmas.

We do eventually stir ourselves to walk down to Corralejo. A lot of the people have come for the persistent breeze for kite surfing and wing foiling. This looks like magic when a chunky sort and board are lifted above the water on a tiny wing. And they do it driven by an inflatable sail. We are amazed.

This is the town with a collapsed volcano behind. It is taken to be extinct.

As of course are dragons, but we found this by the sea. This sand was probably shipped in. Quite a lot was.

The hotel have worked very hard to make a Christmas buffet dinner that is out of the ordinary.  Doris would like you to see this bit of patisserie. In the Christmas menu these were labelled ‘Various Pastries’, and yet were exquisite little things deserving more bigging up than a bit of old turkey lurkey. When you walk back to bed, this is the view.

Sid embraces the full spirit of Christmas, and the picture reminds Doris of an old favourite cartoon.

There are some people who, on being offered hotel entertainment, might slope off to bed. These guys were excellent in the style of Buena Vista Social Club and Gipsy Kings. But boy, could he play guitar…

When you eventually walk back to bed, this is the view.

And on Christmas morning it looks like that. We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
