The ‘guess the engine’ competition and Christmas presents.

In which Sid gives out the answer.

The question: what engine is this?

And the answer is that the wounded Dalek looking device in the foreground is a supercharger, while the engine behind is a Hudson 3.5 litre straight six in a 1936 Brough Superior car. No, I didn’t know they ever made a car.

With Christmas coming you may want to consider giving this well restored 1945 DUKW, available at Nelson’s Surplus Jeep Parts. Who wouldn’t want one?

Priced at $95,000 it has much street presence though may need more stencilling (and life vests). You will soon get used to the fuel consumption and the grease nipple regime.  It is in Columbiana, Ohio. Driving and river driving it to a port to ship to the UK would be an adventure in itself.

More modestly, for £11 (and rather more for the paints) Airfix will sell you a 1/76th kit which will keep you busy into the New Year as well as being cheaper on both petrol and marriage counselling.
