By the fountain at the far end of the Jardin des Tuilleries is a nice chap with a collection of boats. He’s made them all himself, and they are all different – the sail plans are different and also the hull/keel shapes.
You can hire one for the measly sum of €4 for 30 minutes, and if you want you can change over to a different one halfway through.
It goes without saying (so I will say it anyway) that Sid’s not-so-inner child was instantly engaged, €4 changed hands and after about only an hour and a half debating which one to choose, happiness was abundant.
And you know the weirdest thing? Nobody else seemed to notice. Nobody else seemed to be even remotely interested in glancing up to see. We thought this would be the start of an entire flotilla on the pond, but no. There’s no understanding Parisians.
The Boat Dude gets today’s #kindnessandingenuity prize, and pooh to all the children of all ages who weren’t tempted to join in.
