Today’s nomination for the #kindnessandingenuity award goes to the engineers who built the autoroute down the coast past Portofino and on towards Florence.
Looking like a dotted line on the map, this is almost entirely composed of viaducts and tunnels with almost no flat surfaces for the engineers to build on.
I am going to ignore any comments about it being paid from EU slush funds, it is a stupendous piece of engineering; a delight to drive down and a marvel to look at from underneath. This gets my vote for today.
