Scheduled Route Replan #3b

From Sardinia to Santander on a relaxed timeline with only a few smallish obstacles remaining.

Here we are in Sardinia (hooray!) so only one major section of the Epic Journey is left to plan – “simply” get to Santander in time for the ferry on the 4th September.  The ferry only goes twice a week and all the cabins are booked up on the other nearby sailings, so no pressure there.

Ferries run from Sardinia and Corsica to Marseille, Nice and Toulon in France but after a certain amount of hard work with ferry websites and a large spreadsheet we can tell you that the only crossing that makes sense is Porto Torres in Northern Sardinia to Toulon on the 6th August – again this one doesn’t run every day but that gives us 3 days to cover 200km/2,300m of climb.

So our target is now Toulon to Santander in 27 days including rests.  Very do-able, and maybe we can even explore a bit more of north-eastern Spain, as long as we can avoid a few obstacles…

  1. Ah pity you’re not passing this way! But looks a good plan. And you know you’re welcome here in the sunny (well today anyway) French Alps. Happy pedalling, Kathryn and Steve
