What a fantastic place Amsterdam is. There are shops here with things I had to buy (the various continental e-adaptors) but also shops with things I want to buy. Which presents a problem. We already have 44lbs of luggage (which is 20kg to those reading in metric) (or just over 3 stone for those reading in archaic) and we don’t really want to drag any more weight up those hills.
Our neighbour Frank has said that we can post stuff to him, but a steady stream of funny little souvenirs might try his patience, so we’ll reserve that for things we really, really want.
So meanwhile what about those things that catch your eye, which you would buy on a whim on a weekend trip but might not treasure forever? My plan is to collect #virtualsouvenirs – take a picture of them, log them on here, and the memory can still delight after many years! How cool is that?
So today’s #virtualsouvenirs were seen in Staethuys Antiques which specialises in nautical and weird things selected especially to appeal to the Sid And Doris in anyone:
They are: A rabbit clock whose ears waggle in time to the seconds.
And a portable sundial with a compass so you align it correctly to the sun.
How cool is that!
How much were they? Who cares?! This is the glory of #virtualsouvenirs!!
